At this moment, Sasuke's voice came through both Iruka and Ginny's earpieces: "At your three o'clock position, there is a woman who has been staring at our target. Is she an enemy?"
Iruka immediately shifted to block Wesley, a Kunai sliding from his sleeve into his hand as he took a combat stance. Ginny also turned instantly, looking toward the three o'clock direction, and locked eyes with Fire Fox Fox.
"It's an enemy!"
The moment the words left her lips, Ginny drew her pistol from behind her and fired.
Bang!
When Fox saw Ginny, she recognized her as well—the senior who had left the Textile Factory a year ago. The two traded shots; their bullets collided in mid-air, and neither managed to harm the other.
The sudden turn of events terrified Wesley, triggering another anxiety attack. He immediately crouched on the ground, clutching his head, his eyes filled with dread. The constant sound of gunfire stimulated his brain, making the shots feel deafeningly loud, like thunderclaps in that instant.
On the other side, Sasuke and Lee reacted instantly upon hearing Ginny's confirmation of the enemy and charged toward Fox's position.
However, Sasuke's speed was clearly not as fast as Rock Lee's, who beat him to the punch.
"Infinite Dance!"
Rock Lee suddenly lunged from a corner, rushing toward Fox with such speed that afterimages appeared.
Fox was currently in a gunfight with Ginny and had no time to turn and attack Rock Lee.
In the next moment, Fox felt a massive force strike her waist.
Bang!
Fox was sent flying by Lee's punch, her body tracing a graceful arc through the air before slamming into a street-side lamppost with a thud. With several ribs broken, she lost consciousness immediately.
Ginny was stunned by the scene. She hadn't expected Lee, a mere child, to possess such terrifying strength. Looking at his lack of visible muscle, she was amazed he could send a person flying with a single punch.
This was her first mission since joining Charlotte Doyle's team a year ago. Previously, she had served as Charlotte Doyle's secretary, responsible for data collection and screening bounty missions. Although she knew Rock Lee was strong, she hadn't expected him to be this powerful.
His strength was a bit exaggerated. Is this a Ninja? This must be Kung Fu Lee!
Once Fox was dealt with, Ginny holstered her pistol and pulled up Wesley, who was muttering, "I'm just an accountant, I'm just an accountant."
Then, with a very solemn tone, she said, "Wesley, these are the people who came to kill you. They are an organization, not just one person. The danger isn't over yet."
"We should call the police; the police should protect me," Wesley said, trembling slightly.
By now, the pedestrians on the street had long since scattered due to the gunfire, but some kind-hearted citizens had dialed 911 while fleeing.
Rock Lee approached Fox, intending to tie her up to see if they could interrogate her for details. However, upon closer inspection, he saw blood flowing from her mouth and nose. Reaching out to check her breath, he found she had already stopped breathing and confirmed she was dead.
Seeing Lee standing there without moving, Sasuke walked up and asked, "Rock Lee, why haven't you tied her up yet?"
Lee turned around, looking somewhat dejected, and said, "She's dead. I didn't expect her to be so weak. I thought for a B-rank mission, the enemies coming would be very powerful."
Lee was a Ninja newly recruited by Charlotte Doyle this year and hadn't been in this world for very long. At the time, Charlotte had told him that this world was not simple and that people were not weak, which he had taken to heart.
Thus, Rock Lee, who had graduated from the Ninja Academy a year ago, hadn't even used his full strength, yet Fox couldn't even survive a single punch from his Taijutsu.
Sasuke stepped forward to examine Fox's injuries and found that all the ribs on one side were shattered, likely piercing her heart and causing her death. He then remarked with some disdain, "The assassins here are truly weak!"
Hearing their conversation through the earpiece, Iruka immediately said in a serious tone, "Sasuke, Lee, do not let your guard down. Although their physical fitness isn't much, the power of firearms is significant. If they hit you in the head, it's over."
Lee looked solemn, clearly taking Iruka's lecture to heart, but Sasuke remained somewhat dismissive.
Bullets—they'd have to be able to hit him first.
Although his Sharingan could not be activated temporarily due to special reasons, he could still see the trajectory of fired bullets clearly.
Iruka then grabbed Wesley, ignoring Ginny's conversation with him, and said directly, "Ginny, go get the car. This isn't the place to talk. The police will be here soon; we need to change locations first."
Seeing Iruka's resolve, Ginny said no more and immediately ran to where they had parked, driving their prepared car over.
The restrained Wesley didn't trust this group much and intended to escape and run away as soon as he broke free. However, he found that this Asian man with a scar on his face possessed immense strength; no matter how he struggled, he couldn't escape the man's grip, and his attempts were futile.
Sasuke and Lee also hurried over from across the street to help protect Wesley in their midst.
Soon, Ginny pulled up in a black Mercedes-Benz V-Class. The 7-seater MPV could easily carry everyone. Once the car arrived, Iruka and the others got in with Wesley.
The moment the door closed, the car started and sped away from the scene.
After they drove away, a black sedan pulled up beside Fox's body. A burly African-American man got out, checked her, and then stuffed Fox's body into the trunk.
After getting into the passenger seat, he spoke to a Black man sitting in the back: "Sloan, Fox is dead."
The speaker was the Gunsmith. Sloan looked out the window at the nearby lamppost and said, "Cross has betrayed us, and now he's even found helpers to protect his son."
"Clearly, our previous investigation must have caught his attention. I just didn't expect him to find people so quickly."
"And Ginny. After I agreed to let her retire, she dares to help Cross—"
"This is betrayal, pure and simple. Ginny and Carlos have both betrayed the Assassin Brotherhood."
"Back to the Textile Factory. We need to find out who Carlos hired, and gather our people to deal with these two traitors!"
