"Since the creation of heaven and earth, I have obtained the Creation Divine Artifact and achieved the Hongjun Heavenly Dao, which is a concrete manifestation of the Heaven and Earth Great Dao. Therefore, I need to lecture on the Dao three times to repay the bestowal and Karma of the Heavenly Dao."
"This time is the second lecture, which is the succeeding Dao above Great Luo and the transformation of the natural Dao and Law of heaven and earth. If you all carefully comprehend it, you can break through the shackles and barriers of heaven and earth to Prove the Dao and Attain Hunyuan,"
"After this, the third lecture is set for three hundred Yuanhui later. Once the three lectures reach Perfection, I will merge my body with the Heavenly Dao and no longer exist in the Great Wilderness. Therefore, if any of you have doubts now, I can answer your questions and clear your confusion."
"Hoo... Hu..." Just as Hongjun's words fell, apart from the two Ancestral Witches, Dijiang and Houtu, who were still fast asleep, everyone else's breathing became somewhat hurried, with expressions of excitement and intense pleasant surprise.
Even though Hongyun had long known it would be like this, he showed a similar reaction.
There was no other way. After listening to the Dao this time, even though he knew Hongjun would definitely pass down the Method of Severing the Three Corpses to Prove the Dao, opening up the path of the Quasi-Saint, which could resolve all doubts.
However, the doubts accumulated in his heart were too many. If he could not get a Saint to clear his confusion and kept holding them inside, it really wouldn't be a good thing.
This was still because Hongyun had a bit of foresight and knew about some factors of subsequent developments. As for many top heaven and earth mighty figures like Pangu's Three Pure Ones, Fuxi, Nuwa, Zhen Yuanzi, and so on, the doubts in their hearts were much more and much stronger than Hongyun's.
Not to mention other doubts, the most important point was that they all felt stuck at a critical juncture, yet were simply unable to make a breakthrough. They originally thought they needed to continue comprehending and cultivating hard on their own, but in the dark they felt it wasn't so, which made them extremely perplexed.
Little did they expect that the Dao Ancestor was now willing to clear their confusion; how could these mighty figures not be excited, thrilled, and pleasantly surprised!
Regarding this, Hongyun could empathize the most. He even felt that if this bunch of heaven and earth mighty figures didn't get Hongjun's guidance to clear their maze, keeping it all bottled up might possibly drive them mad and cause them to fall into demonic deviation.
Perhaps Hongjun was also afraid of this kind of situation appearing, letting his mortal enemy make a fool of him, which was why he passed down the Method of Severing the Three Corpses during the second lecture and opened the path of the Quasi-Saint.
Otherwise, Hongyun felt that putting the Method of Severing the Three Corpses in the Third Lecture at Zixiao Palace would also be acceptable.
Of course, this was just Hongyun's wild imagination. Very soon, he cast these messy thoughts to the back of his mind and pondered whether he should also ask some questions.
However, Hongyun knew that although Hongjun said it was to answer questions and clear confusion, he probably wouldn't answer too many. If he asked some questions lacking in depth that failed to show his root of wisdom, not to mention being laughed at by others, Hongjun probably wouldn't even bother to pay attention to him.
As for what questions could be asked and what could not, it was quite particular.
Thus, Hongyun thought about it and felt that he should still be a qualified actor; cooperating with Hongjun to act was also quite fun.
Therefore, just as Laozi among Pangu's Three Pure Ones was about to open his mouth to inquire, Hongyun took a step ahead, replaced Laozi, and asked first: "May I ask the Dao Ancestor, are there methods for Proving the Dao?"
Once Hongyun asked these words, Laozi had no choice but to swallow the words back to the brink of his mouth, feeling somewhat suffocated and uncomfortable.
As for the rest of the crowd, naturally they wouldn't care about this at the moment, and all of them looked at Hongjun with expectant faces.
Hongjun spoke in an indifferent voice and replied: "There are three thousand Dao Laws, and every single one can Prove the Dao. My methods of Proving the Dao are three: first, Proving the Dao through the power of Law; second, Proving the Dao by Severing the Three Corpses; and third, Proving the Dao through Merit."
After Hongjun finished speaking, Hongyun, who had long known the answer, naturally did not have much change, and his expression was extremely calm.
But other people were naturally different; each and every one of them was very excited and thrilled.
In their view, there were actually as many as three methods of Proving the Dao. This was simply wonderful. If the Dao Ancestor could answer them one by one, Proving the Dao would surely be within reach!
At this moment, Hongyun, who had grown addicted to acting, once again set the stage for Hongjun and asked him: "May I ask the Dao Ancestor, are there any differences among these three paths of Proving the Dao?"
As his voice fell, Yuanshi, who was originally excited and also wanted to inquire like this, was also uncomfortably suffocated, while the other heaven and earth mighty figures looked at Hongjun with anticipation once again.
Seeing this, Hongjun replied: "Although Dao Laws are endless and collectively called three thousand, and every single one can Prove the Dao, they are also different from one another, so naturally there are differences. Therefore, among these three methods of Proving the Dao, the best should be Proving the Dao through the power of Law, which is the method of Proving the Dao through Force. Its strength is the greatest, but the Great Dao has long since retreated into obscurity, and wanting to Prove the Dao through this is extremely slim."
"Therefore, although Proving the Dao through this method can attain great freedom, it is incomparably difficult and almost impossible to achieve. One needs to leave the Great Wilderness, comprehend and cultivate within Chaos, and go through countless Great Tribulations before there is a sliver of a slim chance to speak of. However, it will be hard to return to the Great Wilderness ever again; staying solely in the Great Wilderness makes it inevitably difficult to Prove the Dao."
As soon as Hongjun said these words, apart from Hongyun, who merely had a nonchalant attitude and feeling of just going through the motions, the hearts of everyone else instantly turned ice-cold.
Leaving the Great Wilderness to cultivate in Chaos—not to mention the issues that hope remained slim and it was difficult to return to the Great Wilderness—solely for these Daluo Golden Immortal Cultivators, going to Chaos was not much different from actively seeking death. This doomed this path to be completely unviable, and they could only give up on it right here and then.
"Dao Ancestor, has anyone Proved the Dao according to this method?"
This time it was not Hongyun who asked first, but rather Tongtian, who heard that this Proving the Dao through Force was the best and strongest, harbored infinite desire in his heart, and thus inquired of Hongjun.
Hongjun did not answer immediately. Instead, after giving Tongtian a deep look, he said indifferently: "Yes, Great God Pangu Proved the Dao through this, but he failed!"
"What a braggart! Great God Pangu was born Hunyuan; how could he possibly need to Prove the Dao through Force? Without even trying, where could there be any failure to speak of! And even if Pangu's creation of heaven and earth was also Proving the Dao through Force, what he proved was the path of transcending the Eternal Great Dao. It is completely not the same concept as the Proving the Dao through Force you mentioned, so how can you talk about failure!" Hongyun was almost amused to laughter by Hongjun, feeling somewhat suffocated and uncomfortable.
With the volume and powerful foundation of the Great Wilderness, a world that could produce Heaven and Earth Sages in the future—even if it wasn't solely created by Pangu alone, but rather forged by Pangu slaughtering the Three Thousand Chaos Demon Gods, using them as sacrifices, and transforming his body into all things.
But Pangu's strength could not possibly be merely a Hunyuan Saint; it was definitely superior to and crushed Hongjun after he merged with the Dao, and he was known as having the half-step Great Dao realm.
Of course, everything above Great Luo is Great Luo, and they are also all the path of Hunyuan; Pangu could indeed be considered a failure. With Hongjun muddying the waters like this, to a certain extent, it didn't seem to have too much problem.
Hongyun would not deliberately conspiracy-theorize this. After all, Hongjun had already explained the difficulty of the method of Proving the Dao through Force prior to this, and did not say that the method of Proving the Dao through Force called Proving the Dao through the power of Law was truly completely unviable.
Right now, it was merely exaggerating and elevating the difficulty therein somewhat, depressing some people's confidence, and letting some people see the facts clearly and face reality.
Since that was the case, even if Hongjun really might have other thoughts, it didn't have much to do with Hongyun. He naturally wouldn't, and couldn't possibly, tear down his stage.
However, other people were naturally not as clear-headed as Hongyun, the outsider. The crowd, whose confidence was already insufficient but who still held more or less some hope for this Proving the Dao through Force, upon hearing Hongjun bring up Great God Pangu, had their last remaining bit of hope directly shattered and dissipated, instantly plunging into despair.
After all, according to Hongjun's words, Proving the Dao through Force was no longer possible unless one could abandon the Great Wilderness and go to cultivate in Chaos.
And in Chaos, it wasn't to say that if you wanted to Prove the Dao you would definitely succeed in Proving the Dao; it was equally incomparably difficult with slim hopes. After endless years, one might not truly succeed, and no one was willing to gamble on this slim path destined to see too little hope.
And just when everyone had completely lost confidence and fallen into total despair, the Best Actor Hongyun came online once again.
Only hearing Hongyun inquire: "May I ask the Dao Ancestor, can the other two methods of Proving the Dao Prove the Dao?"
Hongjun replied: "The Method of Severing the Three Corpses to Prove the Dao is my method of Proving the Dao, and it can Prove the Dao!"
"Can Prove the Dao... Can Prove the Dao..."
At this moment, apart from Hongyun, who still remained calm and composed, although the many heaven and earth mighty figures desperately wanted to calm down, after hearing "Can Prove the Dao", these three words kept echoing in their minds like a clap of heavenly thunder, lingering for a long time.
Furthermore, it instantly pulled them up from the dark abyss of despair, allowing them to see light and hope once more, unable to control themselves, and exceptionally thrilled and excited.
Therefore, before Hongyun could continue cooperating with Hongjun in acting, the crowd bowed in deep reverence and said in unison: "Please enlighten us, Dao Ancestor."
"So be it!" Seeing that the time was ripe and in accordance with the Heavenly Dao, Hongjun nodded and said: "Today I will explain the Dao of the Three Corpses for you all. The Three Corpses: the first is named Qinggu, which mainly attacks human eyes, causing people's eyes to dim, faces to wrinkle, breath to stink, and teeth to fall out; the second is named Baigu, which mainly attacks the five viscera, causing people's hearts to deplete Qi, memory to wane, and minds to feel dull and distressed; the third is named Xuegu, which mainly attacks the gastric ducts, causing people's abdominal cavities to feel irritated and bloated, and bones and flesh to wither and scorch..."
"Therefore, those who seek immortality must first get rid of the Three Corpses, remain tranquil and devoid of desires, keep their spirits quiet and natures bright, accumulate various virtues, and then taking medicine will be effective, and they can Prove the Dao..."
...
Hongjun's profound Dao sounds continued endlessly, but this time there were not many profound auspicious phenomena of a Saint lecturing on the Dao. Everything appeared natural and plain, yet it was the Great Dao in its simplest form, returning to true simplicity. Everyone was immersed in it, unable to extricate themselves, carefully comprehending this Method of Severing the Three Corpses to Prove the Dao.
Not knowing how long had passed like this, Hongjun's profound Dao sounds gradually stopped, but everyone was still intoxicated within it, unable to wake up for a moment.
Meanwhile, Hongjun looked at the crowd indifferently and slowly said: "The Three Corpses can also be called the Good Corpse, Evil Corpse, and Self-corpse, which are where all the obsessions of living beings and Cultivators lie. When the Three Corpses are completely severed, all obsessions are gone, unaffected by any interference, completely lucid, and by comprehending the three thousand, one can Prove the Great Dao! However, the good and Evil Corpses are easy to sever, but the Self-corpse is hard to find and also hard to sever..."
"Therefore, among them, severing one corpse is the Early Quasi-Saint, severing two corpses is the Mid-stage Quasi-Saint, severing Three Corpses is the Late-stage Quasi-Saint, and the Three Corpses in One is the Peak Quasi-Sage. After that, through Fusion with one's own main body, can one Prove the Dao..."
"At the same time, if one wishes to sever the Three Corpses, there must be objects of sustenance. The objects for sustaining the Three Corpses must be Innate objects; whether they are Innate Spirit Treasures or Innate Spiritual Roots, etc., they can all be used to sustain the Three Corpses..."
Hongjun's words slowly echoed endlessly, and everyone also gradually woke up, gaining a clearer and deeper understanding of the Method of Severing the Three Corpses to Prove the Dao. However, upon hearing that Innate objects were required to sustain the Three Corpses, many heaven and earth mighty figures felt somewhat uncomfortable.
Especially those without Innate objects who were basically penniless—not only were they even more uncomfortable, but they also immensely envied those heaven and earth mighty figures who possessed Innate objects.
At this very moment, Minghe might not envy others, but he was definitely the most uncomfortable person.
Because although he had many treasures in his hands, which would be more than enough if used for Slaying the Corpse, the yuantu and abi swords that were even more suitable for him to slay the corpse had been sealed by Hongyun and could not be used for Slaying the Corpse.
This made him incomparably suffocated and uncomfortable. While fiercely glaring at Hongyun, he also helplessly began to ponder what generous gifts he should take to Fire Cloud Cave to offer an apology.
At this time, Hongyun naturally wouldn't know Minghe's thoughts. Instead, his Dao Heart was pristine and clear, and he comprehended the Dao of the Three Corpses. The Three Flowers and Five Qi above his head rolled incessantly, his aura surging like the sea, with a breakthrough in sight. He then let out a loud shout: "Sever!"
The resounding shout echoed through Purple Heaven Palace. A mysterious divine light split from within Hongyun's body, condensing into a flickering and uncertain Avatar. In a split second, it plunged deep into Hongyun's Primordial Spirit, sustaining and merging with one of the bodies of the Three Lives Body. Thus, Hongyun achieved the realm of the Early Quasi-Saint.
However...
"This..."
At this moment, all the mighty figures uniformly looked at Hongyun with shocked expressions, dumbfounded.
Meanwhile, Hongjun looked at the crowd, as if his state of mind had lost its balance, and the corners of his mouth involuntarily twitched several times.
